MONICA LONCOLA
About

Nature is my muse. My work explores an instinctual connection to my subject matter. I'm stopped in my tracks by a guttural pull to render what I see. Working in series, I create thematically cohesive collections around different themes. I take chances and push boundaries. My formative years were spent along the tidelines of the Atlantic where my love for the ocean began. As a child, I wanted to lift the "lid "of the ocean to see inside but it's the anticipation of seeing what the next wave tosses up that keeps me coming back. The tideline is a barometer of the life below the surface. In my work I render a singular subject or composites of images floating over the picture plane. My intention is to share with the viewer my my personal space of observation. My goal is to stir curiosity for a call to action to conserve our natural resources for future generations.
