Palmier de Mer

Sea Palm with holdfast. I found this beautiful vibrant holdfast the waves just tossed up on the Carmel River State Beach in Carmel Valley, CA. It was remarkable to see the density of life thriving on its base. The Sea Palm is a very protected species along the California Coast. I was fortunate to come across such a find.
